Matthew 5:8 says “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God”. For one to see God he must be pure in his heart. God calls on all human beings to be pure in heart. Purity means absence of impurities. It means no external interference of activities in our hearts from demonic world. Therefore if our hearts have to be pure, we must disengage ourselves from sinful activities and likes which make our hearts impure. We should let God fully rule our hearts, day and night. In the book of Mark 12:30, Jesus says “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.” God requires ALL the heart. Not part or fraction of our heart! The whole heart should be dedicated to God day and night, and in every moment of our entire life.
In Luke 6:45, Jesus said “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good. And an evil man, out the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.” What is stored in your heart determines what will be spoken by your mouth. If you store goodness, your mouth will speak goodness; if you have stored evil, your mouth will speak evil. Reading the word of God and meditating upon it day and night ensures your heart has a rich storage of God’s will, hence you will always speak the abundance of God’s word – you will bless people, you will speak prosperity to them; when they err or sin, you will correct them with love and reinstate them back to God; you will always strive to speak goodness to people. On the other hand, if you store in your heart vices like jealousy, hatred, pain, unforgiveness, sexual immorality, and envy, your mouth will always speak foul to other people. Therefore, we should be careful on what we store in our hearts.
Watching pornography, listening to music and conversations that have sexual connotations and other types of lust, makes your heart dirty; hence any word proceeding from your mouth will be corrupted and against God’s will. In John 7:38 Jesus said “He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” We should believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in our lives, according to the word of God. This will enrich our hearts with goodness and any time our mouths speak they will speak life to people. Our hearts will be sources of life and not death. The people we interact with every day will gain from us positively so as to continue with their lives productively and in godly ways.
In John 14:1, Jesus said “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me.” God does not want our hearts to store troubles; He wants our hearts to be full of belief in God and His Son Jesus Christ. Instead of thinking about troubles, think about how great our God is above our troubles. Believe in Jesus Christ as our savior, God in human flesh, and believe in how God will help us solve our problems and worries of life. In 1 Peter 5:7 the Bible says “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” God cares for us! Let your heart not be troubled, believe in God and His Son, Jesus Christ, with ALL your heart! Hallelujah!
The book of Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds, through Christ Jesus.” Inform God, as your Father in heaven, all the challenges of life you are going through. Request Him to help you out or through the challenges; and God will supply your heart with the peace of God, in the midst of all the challenges, beyond human comprehension! Hallelujah! Tell God through prayer and supplications, what difficult times you are going through – so that no anxiety will harbor in your heart and make you unnecessarily sick or peace less.

Romans 10:10 says “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” The heart of a human being is very important in matters of faith and righteousness. The root of righteousness is in our hearts. For one to be born again he starts by believing in his heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. Then, out of the abundance of the belief in his heart, his mouth speaks and confesses that Jesus is Lord, as a physical confirmation of salvation. Therefore, the heart is very important to God since that is where the transformation of a person starts. Therefore, in Proverbs 4:23, God insists “keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” All efforts of a human being should be spent to guard our hearts since our hearts are the sources of issues of life. Our hearts should be filled with the word of God so that, as ambassadors for Christ, we may save people from eternal damnation.
God transforms sinful people into His servants through the heart; Satan also transforms a person into an evil person through the heart by his evil machinations. That’s why God advises us to protect our hearts more than anything else. God reads our hearts and sees what we have in store. In 1 Samuel 16: 7b the Bible says “…For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” God qualifies anyone as His servant from the accounts of his heart. God does not bank on the physical looks of a person, as a spiritual quality; instead, He audits the stores (abundance) of his heart and evaluates his ability and dedication to God’s word towards the God’s service; and qualifies him from the results of the heart. Of the seven brothers of David, no one could qualify to be the next king of Israel because, according to God’s evaluation of their hearts, though they were older than David, their standards did not measure to God’s standards. Though David was the youngest in the family, his heart was after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14).
