TRUE LOVE FOR GOD
A TEACHING ON TRUE LOVE FOR GOD
TO GET THIS TEXT ON VIDEO,
God created us in His own image. God expects us to love Him.

Mark 12:30 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.” We should love God in totality – no part of ourselves should be spared. All of us should be dedicated to love God.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” You cannot claim to love God without keeping His commandments. You must obey God’s commandments for us to qualify to be loving Him. Love to our God is equal to keeping His commandments. We cannot love God without keeping His commandments. Committing sin such as stealing, adultery, and hating your neighbor shows you do not love God. That is, breaking God’s commandments is a clear testimony that you do not love God.

Matthew 10:37 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.” You cannot love your father or your mother more than God and claim to love God. If you love your father or mother, sons or daughters, or any other family members or human beings, more than God, then you do not love God. God cannot share His love by human beings with anybody or anything else. You cannot love anybody in this world more than God and claim to love God. Loving anything in this world more than God disqualifies you to be a son of God. However much people are close to us does not mean we love them more than God. We should give God first-class love. We give God all of our love.
Matthew 6:6, 8 and 9 “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.”… God is our Father, our Provider, our Creator, our Healer, our Protector, our Lover, and our everything! Therefore, we should love Him more than anything else in this world.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” God loved as so much that His only Son died for our sins. We should not worship idols such as riches, money, and people. We should desist from worshipping idols and turn to loving and worshipping God alone. God occupies the whole universe and is not limited by nature as other gods.

John 21:15 - 17 “So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”

God is concerned about His sheep. He is concerned about people called by His name – people who are born again, people who belong to the flock of God. If you love God you should care about the welfare of God’s children. People that have not given their lives to Jesus Christ are sheep that have gone astray. We should reach out to them with the love of Jesus Christ. We should reach out to them and bring them back to the flock of Jesus Christ. We should evangelize the world and show to all people the love of Jesus Christ – this demonstrates the love of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

We should show the love of God to people by meeting their needs – feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick (to pray for them and encourage them), and welcoming strangers, among others. Showing compassion to the needy is serving Jesus Christ. Meeting brethren’s needs is serving Jesus Christ – it is showing love to Jesus Christ. Showing love to the least in the society is showing love to Christ. Meeting their needs is demonstrating your love to Christ. God will never appear to us physically for us to demonstrate our love to Him – we demonstrate love to Him by showing love to brethren in need. We should show love to the least of the people whom we do not expect to reciprocate the same to us.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” All things will always be working together for good in your life if you love God. All things do not work together for good to everyone, but only to those who love God! All systems in the world must work together for good in your life because you love God.

To exercise love to God, you cannot do so on your own accord, you need God to help you – you must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior; you must be born again!
