A TEACHING ON THE NAME OF JESUS
Who is Jesus?
The Bible says that Jesus is God. Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God.
The Bible says in John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” In verse 14 the Bible continues to say: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” That “Word” explained here is God, who became flesh – Jesus Christ. It is God in human flesh. He came to this world and walked around and talked to and with the people. He blessed people and cast out demons – He set people free from demonic captivity.

Jesus came in human flesh so that He can teach us the ways of God and afterwards die on the cross on our behalf. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” If you sin you’re supposed to die. According to Genesis 3 we sinned, and therefore everybody has the nature of sin.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. All human beings inherited the sin of Adam and Eve. We were supposed to die for that sin but God came to this world in human form to die on our behalf. He went through childhood to adulthood. He also underwent everything we go through in this world. He was hungry, he cried, and underwent the difficulties we face in this life. Therefore, we can identify with Him. He carried our sins and was crucified for our sins. Therefore, today, after believing in Christ, we can claim, correctly, that we have no sin.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” That is the work of Jesus. Whoever believes in Him is forgiven their sins and therefore will not face the consequences of sin. They will have eternal life forever because Jesus died on their behalf.

Speaking of the name of Jesus is speaking of the name of God. When the name of Jesus is mentioned, you’re mentioning God Himself. His name has the power of God Himself. Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” Philippians 2:8 says, “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross”. Jesus humbled Himself to death so that He might die for our sins.
The name of Jesus is the name with God’s power. Philippians 2:9-11 says, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Jesus has a name above every other name. His name is totally incomparable to any other name. When one calls on His name all beings must bow; whether in heaven, on earth or under the earth. Demons, Satan, all spirits and even angels must bow at the name of Jesus. All problems and challenges of life must obey at the name of Jesus.

In Revelation 3:8 Jesus says, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.” The church of Philadelphia did not deny His name. Hence, God has opened a door ahead of them that no one can shut. Believe in Jesus, and doors of blessings in your life will be opened. If you do not deny the name of Jesus in your life, doors of healing, prosperity, success, and other blessings, will open in your life.

Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe”. The name of the Lord has total protection. It is a stronghold of God’s power. Calling on this Name guarantees your protection, and is an assurance of your tomorrow.

Romans 10:13 says, “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved”. Do not fear to call on the name of the Lord. In challenges life, call on the name of the Lord and you’ll be saved. When you call on the name of the Lord you’ll be saved.

In Matthew 18:20 Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Wherever we congregate because of the name of Jesus, Jesus is there with us. Do not be afraid.

Acts 3:6 says “Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”’ At the name of Jesus the beggar was free from lameness. Peter and John did not have any money to give the beggar, but they healed him, in the name of Jesus. The beggar’s lameness started from his mother’s womb. It does not matter how long you have been in a problem. At the name of Jesus you can be redeemed from it!

Mark 16:17-18, Jesus said, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” In the name of Jesus the blind see, the lame walk, the sick get well, the deaf hear and may more wonders happen.

Never fear to call on the name of Jesus. There is no name greater than it, and there will never be another to match its power.
