A CHRISTIAN TEACHING ON SIN
TO CHECK OUT THIS TEACHING ON VIDEO,
Sin is failing to obey God. Sin is failing to obey God’s word. Sin is failing to obey God’s instructions. In Genesis 2:16-17 the Bible says, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’” This was God’s instruction to Adam and Eve. Their freedom in the Garden of Eden had a limit. In God’s kingdom there are rules and regulations to be followed because in everything we do we have to do it such that we please the Lord.

Freedom in God has boundaries within which it has to be practiced. When we exercise our freedom and desires beyond God’s boundaries, we sin against Him. This is what happened in Genesis 3:1-13. Man ate what he was prohibited by God not to eat – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent deceived the woman into disobeying God by convincing her that God’s command to Adam and Eve was incorrect and that it was meant to deny the man superior privileges. “Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5).

Disobedience to God in Genesis 3 was the origin of sin, which is inherent to all human beings. Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. This is what sin does, making human beings to fall short of the glory of God – this is the devil’s grand objective. He would always love that we be eternally disconnected from God. He would like every human being to die in sin “for the wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6 : 23a).

In John 10:10a Jesus said, “The thief comes to steal and to kill and to destroy.” The serpent of old, also called Dragon, Satan, or the Devil (Revelation 12:9 and 20:2) is the arch enemy of God and human beings. He always aims to steal, kill, and destroy.

In 1 John 3:8, the Bible says, “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.” Therefore, whoever steals, commits sexual immorality (lesbianism, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, bestiality, pornography, masturbation, etc.), idolatry, hatred, jealousy, murder, corruption, devil worship, witchcraft, etc. belongs to the devil, and is destined to eternal damnation. The devil is the custodian of all kinds of evil to ensure that man dies and misses eternal life bonanza.
Satan knows his final destination is the lake of fire, hence would like to mislead many people against God so that they can also miss in the God’s Book of Life; and also be cast into eternal fire. (Revelation 20:10, 15).
Cure for sin
The remedy for sin is repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life. Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is the only one able to conquer the devil, the power of sin, and, finally, death, in the life of a person. This He does freely (without asking for payment) for “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23b). In John 10:10b Jesus said “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” The grand objective of God is that man is reinstated into the original plan of God – man to have eternal life, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). In 1 John 3:8b the Bible says “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
